Herculaneum
The city suffered the same fate as Pompei in 79 A.D. And was entirely buried by a sea of mud which preserved it for centuries, even some of the carbonized wooden beams and furniture.
The accent falls more on the developing of the roman house, which started being built in the height rather than in the width.
It has today being slightly better restored compared to Pompei. That is today and at the time of the romans, when both the places where damaged by an earthquake of volcanic origin.
